Class Introduction

A recent white paper commissioned by Microsoft Corp. found that the 20 distinct skills bubbling up to the top candidates in millions of high-growth, high-paying jobs postings, 80% of them are soft skills. As we identified at this age of technology, teenagers and young adults are increasingly in need of soft skills development to compete in the 21st century. The foundation of soft skills is the ability to manage self effectively which establishes the foundation of success for youth in the future. As Confucius stated「修身、齊家、治國、平天下」which translate as “When one’s personal life is cultivated, one’s family will be regulated and then one’s state will be well governed; and when all the states are well governed, there will be peace and harmony throughout the world”. The ability to manage self effectively is the foundation for being a strong future leader whom is responsible with integrity to lead the community and organization. In this Youth Soft-Skills Development class – Self-Management, the students will learn: • Set goals and vision to have a sense of purpose and direction • Adopt good life habits to be a responsible and effective teen. • Increase self-awareness and self-value to increase confidence • Communicate effectively in small group and public • Manage own demeanor to project confidence; About the teacher: Education: B.S.
